Quote of the moment

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Dreams

Dreams
Visions of a world that is or could be
Images of a time, a place coveted to see
A glimpse at alternatives, things that not yet are
Paths to happiness or paths that may scar

Dreams
Remembrances of life of the past
Some good, others sad, but all will last
Events that have shaped the mind and soul
Make up ones being and forms the whole

Dreams
Life as it is seen from afar
Sometimes distorted to the bizarre
Perceptions of all that is now
True or false it is part of this life that we plow

Dreams
Bring fantasies into view give them life
A reward for surviving the daily strife
Animation to hopes and pleasures to the eye
A brief reality to those castles in the sky

Dreams
The monstrous portal for all fears
Manifest as demons that the mind sears
Releasing the nightmare from behind the locks
Never meant to escape the hidden mental box

Dreams
Sometimes a foreshadowing of that to come
A sighting of destiny with no path to run from
A fate that is meant for dreamer to pursue
A homing to which there is reward of life’s due

Dreams
They sometimes can come true
But also they may not follow through
And when they fail, and not turn out as they seem
They leave the mind empty, no fantasies left to dream

Dreams
Can be avoided for time, even years
But eventually the sneak in and the mind sears
They can turn joyous like a fairly tale story
Or they might all hope and life destroy

Dreams
In the end one cannot always forestall
Over again they will simply continue to call
Eventually they must all be faced
To be dealt with or continue to be chased.
