Quote of the moment

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Doctor, Sir, Doctor

Doctor, Sir, Doctor
May I have a pill
I only ask for one
Help me, I’m ill
I do not like
How I feel
Make it go away
Make it heal

This world simply holds
Too many pains
The hurts of the mind
Wipes out all gains
Wounds to the flesh
To body and soul
Keeps old injuries fresh
Never healing whole

Preacher, Sir, Priest
May I have a magic word
Something to fight demons
Wand, or perchance sword
Dream-catcher for the sprites
That haunt in the dark of night
Or maybe a seeing lens
For monsters hidden from sight

Burdens seem so great
Pleasures so rare, so few
Support so often seems void
Vanishes into the blue
Relief is only one more fable
Reserved for those without need
Escape is but a legend
For which we can only plead

Hero, Sir, Hero
Please hear of my cause
Listen to my pleas
Consider as you pause
Can you be our champion
White Knight on noble stead
Are we not worth the effort
To be your heroic deed

Oh Doctor, Sir, Doctor
Is there nothing in your bag
That will held with this fight
A cure of which you can brag
Elixir of cure or for the ills
At least of momentary relief
Doctor, please Doctor
Please at least feed our belief.

Hello Walls

Hello Walls
How’s it going
Are you doing OK today
Is it OK
If I share
The hours that fade away

Spider with a web
Sulking in the corner
Collecting only dust
Content to wait another day
Something might
Happen by on fates path
Really matters not
Spider really has not say
Corner where it lurks
That is the entire world
No draw to venture
Only wait the imagined prey

Hello Mirror
Who is that face
What brings him here today
Did he step in
To this dream
That never fades away

Ant crawls
Up the wall
Drawn in a direction
Without a rhyme
Choices he seems
To make his own
But the destination
Is the same each time
To meet that spider
Where she lurks
Never knowing
For what crime

Hello memories
In my head
What brings you here today
Did I see
A trinket past
Of a thought that will not fade away

Another morning
May have dawned
Behind that window
In the world of others
That shape though
Does its job
Like hope
All light it smothers
That world of lies
Fictions called hopes
They cannot reach
This cave of covers

Hello Walls
How’s it going
Are you doing OK tonight
Is it OK
If I share
The hours too long to fight.
