The stars providing the only light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
I heard an Eagle in the night
There was more in that noise, my ears to fill
At the sound I stopped to observe
Listening close, I heard it's voice
It sounded on every nerve
I had to listen had no choice
I took in all the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart was going boom, boom, boom
It said: Grab your things,
it's time to make a new home.
Too long I have been silent, I resigned
Friends and foe would think I was a nut.
But an opportunity was upon me
An open door would soon be shut.
So I went another direction that day
To rip my life out of a deep rut
I prepared a full about face
Determined which connections I would cut.
I had been a part of the scenery
Then I walked right out of the machinery
My heart was going boom, boom, boom
Hey, babe, grab your things,
I've come to take you home.
When illusion spun her dreamy net
I've never been where I want to be
And liberty she did a pirouette
And now I've set myself free
I've long been an empty silhouette
With closed eyes, unwilling to see
Played the game by etiquette
Now I will show another me.
Today I don't need a replacement
I know what the smiles on my face meant
My heart was going boom boom boom
Hey, I said, they can keep my things,
I just want to take you home.
