He walks in, to the den
Go goes to the shelf
Picks up, his favorite CD
That’s where he keeps his self
Neatly packed, for retrieval
Emotions all encoded
No need, to feel on his own
Here it cannot be eroded
And there’s no need, to think,
To reason, or even know how to care
Because someone, already did it
His life is package for him there
She wakes, in the morning
To the life designed by others
Not what, she ever dreamed of
Easier to avoid feelings that might smother
Could go, elsewhere to daylight
It would come at a cost though
So she will only, try not to remember
Hope that those dreams do not show
And there’s no need, to think,
To reason, or ever to care
Some will do that for you
Tell when you can have air
He shouts, and he berates others
From the safety of the ether of nothing
With loudness, tries to drown out
Sounds that other voices try to sing
Insecurity, is his entire being
The process of thought too much strain
He becomes a mockery, transparent
Tries to hide the fractures in his brain
And there’s no need, to think
To reason, or even to care
Just denial, will cover
For the truth that you wear
He looks back, in the mirror
At those things good and bad
The pain inflicted, all the sorrow
Everything he could have had
No dreams, can meet fulfillment
He gave all and they took away the keys
Too much giving, never taking
Lost all his goals, blown away on the breeze
And there’s no need, to think
To reason, or even to care
Just move on, through life
No one said life was fair
And there’s no need, to think
No reason, no one cares
Just toys, to cast aside
No one really cares.
