Quote of the moment

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

*Like an Eagle

(My version, as inspired by Steve Miller)

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
I want to soar like an eagle
Let my spirit be free.

I want fly with my angel
With my love
I want soar with my angel
Look down on other from above.

Hand in hand
Above the fray
The thought will give me strength
To await that day.

When we can fly like eagles
To the sea
Soar in the clouds
Our spirits together and free.

Together with my angel
And it was meant to be
I want to fly like an eagle
Far out past the sea.
