Quote of the moment

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

*Dream of My Little Girl

(Adapted from Angel Dream from Tom Petty)

I dreamed a little girlie,
I saw her face.
Glowing eyes seemed to fill all of space.

I saw an angel,
I saw my fate.
I saw my destined soul mate.

Over mountains,
I would climb today
Try to swim across oceans,
To have her come back and stay.

I'd followed my angel
Through any gate
I thank that girl from the south
And pray God she comes home before too late.

Sing a little song of loneliness,
Sing one to make me smile.
Another round for everyone,
I'm here for a little while.

Now I'm walkin'
This street all alone
But she's with me
In my mind and my soul.

Yeah, I found an angel,
I found my place
I can only pray God
Help her come back some day.
