Quote of the moment

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Silence Of The Night

In the silence of the night
Not even stars in sight
In the swelter of summer time
In thoughts of passions a crime.

Two spirits come together
Drawn by fate to each other
Finding without seeking,
Joining without speaking.

A gentle touch and nothing more
Brings an open sweat to every pore
As the building clouds
Around them soar.

Not a sound breaks the quite
As the storm begins to build
Their minds melt into one
And their desires will not yield.

Minds touch in the dark
As their lips approach the mark
And their very breath is stripped away
With nothing left to say.

Gentle strokes become like sledgehammers
Driving passion home
As Thunder rips the sky
And their lives become a poem.

Lightning blast through the wind
Exposing the fullness of their accord
As their hearts thundered in unison
And the storm around them now roared.

And the Earth beneath them screams
With the very power of the longing
The fullness of the passion
The completeness of joining.

They melted there together
Not a single thing amiss
They had finally found their destiny
Together in total bliss.

But outsiders would not let them be
They staked their own claims
Force their love to be set aside
In favor of other aims.

Love, happiness,
These things were not their rights
Duty, control,
This was what was to rule their nights.

Where their hearts and minds were destined to be
Had no pull with others who seized control
And kept the reigns with demands
And constant patrol.

But their thoughts were together
Through all torment
And one day they will rejoin
Through the torrent.

Of abuse and control
They will overcome
And once again
Become one.

And the sky will scream in delight
The ground thunder like klaxon
When those hearts again join
And bodies entangle in passion.

And never again shall they part
Once they are again whole of heart
And of mind and soul and very being
And able to their song of love fully sing.
